Bonnie Yvonne Rouze, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully from heart failure on July 7th, 2016 at the age of 77.
The youngest of five children, Bonnie was born to Andrew and Mary-Lou Bourne, a poor family of sharecroppers, on October 10th, 1938 in Robertson County, Tennessee. Her parents were struck hard by the effects of the Depression, and although they did their best to nurture her, they found it hard to care for an unexpected child. But Bonnie was not to be discouraged. As well as providing a view of worlds beyond their farm, Bonnie’s love of reading became a defining attribute in her life, and as she grew to adulthood she worked hard to share her love of stories and create a family where each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was loved and appreciated. In early years, it meant working hard for them in a cannery; in later ones, it meant moving with them as her children relocated across the country.
But that was “Granny” Bonnie’s greatest strength: To love, and be loved.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her son Randy Bourne and grandson Brandon. She is survived by her daughters Lori Malone and Shara Lott, her grandchildren Angela, Keira, Whitney, Amanda, Rachyl, Robin, Brittany, Brandi, Taylor, Trace, and Kylie, and her great-grandchildren Lucas, Kinsley, and Nolan.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11 am at the LDS Chapel, 1800 East 400 South, Springville, Utah.
All are welcome to attend.
