Betty Mae Wyckoff

March 29, 1939 — August 14, 2024

Pleasant Grove

Betty Mae Wyckoff, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Born in Ele'ele, Kauai, Hawaii, Betty was the first of six children to Adolph and Lydia Brun Kruse. Her early years were marked by the joys and challenges of growing up in a large family. As the oldest of six children, Betty, Barbara, Bonnie, Donald, Beverly, and Brenda, she was given a lot of responsibility at a very young age but always faced life with a resilience and grace that defined her character.

In 1955, Betty married the love of her life, Duane Warner Wyckoff. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and family. In June 1960, Betty and Duane became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One year later they were sealed as a family in the Los Angeles temple. Their faith was the cornerstone of their lives, and they found immense fulfillment in serving in various church callings, enriching their lives with countless blessings. And their marriage was a testament to their unwavering devotion to one another.

Betty was blessed with three sons, and later in life, their family grew with the addition of a teenage boy who completed their family circle. Her greatest joy came from being a mother, and later, a grandmother and great-grandmother, roles she cherished deeply.

Betty is survived by her sons, Dennis and Debbie Slothower, Mark and Cindy Wyckoff, Lance and Juli Wyckoff, and Clint and Shannon Wyckoff, as well as her siblings, Barbara and Manny Bustamante, Bonnie and Joseph Rutledge, Donald and Patty Kruse, and Brenda Jones. She also has 17 Grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, and her sister, Beverly Good.

Betty’s life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering faith. She was a woman of poise, grace, and beauty, who touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her wit, kindness, and compassion were evident in every interaction, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Betty’s legacy of pure love and perseverance will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

As Betty herself wrote, “Veni, Vidi, Vici—I Came, I Saw, I Conquered.” Now, she lays down her worn-out body and goes home to reunite with her loved ones who have passed on before her. Betty will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Duane, in Orem, Utah.

Her family expresses their deep gratitude for the love and friendship she received throughout her life. Betty was an incredible woman, and her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Until we meet again, dear Betty, may you rest in peace.
