Betty Jorgensen

September 3, 1929 — August 29, 2022

Farmington, Utah

Betty Mae Jorgensen passed away on 29 August 2022 in Farmington, Davis County, Utah.  She was born 3 September 1929 in Los Angeles, LA County, California to Jessie Elizabeth Owens (nee SMITH) and Clovis Benjamin (C.B.) HUNTER.

Betty attended LA Schools, graduating from Bell Gardens High School in 1948. She worked as an office clerk until first her marriage in 1948. They were later divorced in 1974.  During her ‘single years’ she expressed her gardening talents working for La Habra Florist and Provo Floral.  She had a real flair for gardening and took advantage of the California sun and the abundance of beautiful flowers natural to the State.

This stay- at- home mom during the ‘50’s and 60’s worked to make her homes nice to come home to with beautiful self-crafted floral arrangements, her original oil paintings and Classical Music. Her favorite recordings included Debussy’s ‘Claire de Lune”, “Moon Light Sonata” and Tchaikovsky’s Concerto #1 in B-flat minor.  As a teenager she danced to the beat of Glen Miller, moving to the tunes of “In the Mood” and “String of Pearls”, She also enjoyed listening to the car radio  and the contemporary music of the sixties which included Mantovani’s  rendition of “Stranger in Paradise”, “Autumn Leaves”, “Ebb Tide”, and “Days of Wine and Roses” and Andy Williams “Moon River”. Betty also enjoyed playing the piano in her teen years and later bought a home organ to play for her relaxation. Her love of the organ and orchestral music was key in influencing her daughters to pursue and develop their musical abilities and interests in high school and college.

Betty raised her two daughters, Lynda and Judy in Orange County, California until she moved to Orem, Utah in 1978.  During a trip home to California in 1982 Betty met her future husband Clinton Olson Jorgensen. They were married and sealed in the Jordan River Temple on the 9 July 1983.  Clinton proceeded her in death on 21 April 2019.

Betty leaves behind two daughters Lynda ( Mark) and Judy along with 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Betty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
