Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Betty Joyce Lowe Humpherys, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Provo, Utah. "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith." (2 Tim. 4:7) She was born on April 19, 1924 in Franklin, Idaho to Lester Doney and Golden Grace Fjeldsted Lowe. Betty was raised in Franklin, Idaho and graduated from Franklin High School. She dated Roy Weaver Humpherys while they attended Utah State University. He recommended her for a waitress position at Zion Lodge in Zion National Park where she also sang and danced in the nightly talent shows. They were married for eternity on December 23, 1942 in the Logan LDS Temple, just prior to Roy being called into active duty in the military. They only had one week together before a tearful goodbye. Betty was able to join Roy at Camp Callan in Fort Ord, California where she was hired as a "nanny" by Captain Mattheson, Roy's officer, to watch over his two young sons in his beach home. Betty supported her husband during his time in the military service as well as later during his career as a dentist and general contractor. Most of all, Betty is remembered as a loving, caring and concerned mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She supported her children by attending most, if not all, the wrestling, gymnastics, swimming, music and skiing competitions her children participated in during their youth, high school and college years. After Roy's death in 1998, Betty married Varian Wesley Warfield. She is predeceased by her parents, her two husbands, her sister Grace NaDean Lowe McFarland and her brother Bruce Lester Lowe. Betty is survived by her children, Judd Lowe (Tina), JoAnne (Paul) Ludlow, LeGrande Rich (Susan), Cherry (Erich) Gott, Joyce (Gary) Sanders, Janet Grace (Troy) Fullmer and Roy Christian (Melanie); 38 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren and her sister, Diane Lowe Olsen. She is also survived by her three dogs, Buddy, Sadie and Daisy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cherry Hill 5th Ward, 135 East 2000 South, Orem, Utah. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Orem Cemetery following the service.
