Betty Lou Provost Bowden passed away peacefully Friday, February 26, 2016 at the age of 83. Betty was born March 28, 1932 to Darrell Ray Provost and Lilly LaPreal Cluff. She married the love of her life Douglas R. Bowden on June 1, 1950 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 29, 1966. Married for 65 years, they made their home in Provo, Utah where they raised their four children Steven Douglas Bowden (Sherry), Stanley R. Bowden (Janice), Sharlene Susan Curtis (Bladen), Sterling Webster Bowden (Judy). Betty loved to dance, and in the arms of her husband, the two of them could light up any dance floor. Whether on the back of Doug's motorcycle or beside him in a car, Doug and Betty have logged countless hours traveling the country visiting family and friends. While Betty was a devoted wife, and a compassionate mother, her favorite role was that of grandmother. She carried pictures of each of her 16 grandchildren and her 25 great-grandchildren in her car and was eager to show them off. She always remembered birthdays, and loved spending time with life long friends who met each morning for breakfast. She enjoyed cooking, camping, and had a love for teaching her family about their ancestors. With her passing her family and friends have lost a cherished spirit. Her beautiful heart left a positive impact on everyone she met. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Darrell and Lilly, her brother Ray Provost, and two grandchildren Jessica and Justin. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Doug, her sister Maxine McDonald, her 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. The viewing and funeral services will be held on Thursday March 3, 2016 at 12:00 in the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary chapel 495 South State Street, Orem Utah. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:45 a.m. The burial ceremony will be held at Midway City Cemetery 600 West 500 South Midway, Utah.
