Betsey Elizabeth Williams, 95, of Orem, Utah, died 14 October 2014 in Provo.
She was born April 4, 1919 to Everett Ethelbert and Edna Mertelle Libbey in Detroit, Maine.
Betsey attended Maine Central Institute, a private high school in Pittsfield, Maine; she graduated as Valedictorian of the Class of 1937. In 1942, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College, Waterville, Maine. In 1943 she was admitted in the first class of girls to Northeastern University, an engineering university in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her Masters of Library Science from Simmons College, Boston, Massachusetts, 1964.
On February 20, 1944, she married Glenn Dean Williams, of Mesa, Arizona.
Betsey worked as a metallurgist at General Electric Company, West Lynn, Massachusetts, from 1943 to 1945. She earned her teaching certificate at Boston University and worked at Lynnfield High School and Winchester High School for seventeen years as a school librarian, retiring in 1976.
She has traveled extensively with her husband through all fifty states of the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Relief Society, Young Women, Primary, Sunday School and Seminary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Williams, her parents, Everett and Edna Libbey, and a brother, David Libbey. She is survived by her children: Sharon Mathews, Linnette (Kirk) Webster and Glenn (Joanne) Williams; twenty grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery in Pittsfield, Maine on Tuesday, 21 October 2014. Betsey will be buried next to husband and near to her parents.
Betsey loved her family, her God, and life, in general. Each who has known Betsey will remember her as one who was always young at heart, keen of mind, eager to learn and to do. In short, she knew how to "Keep a dream in the making."
