Beth Bryson Hurst, 86, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on January 20, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Beth was born October 22, 1929, in Kenilworth, Utah. She was the daughter of Melvin Conrey Bryson and Pearl "Pat" Hale Bryson. Beth grew up in El Paso, Texas, where she attended the Texas College of Mines. Beth married her sweetheart, Daniel Earl Hurst, in the Arizona Temple, August 20, 1948. They made their first home in New Orleans, Louisiana, where all five of their children were born. Earl's employment took them to London, England; Denver, Colorado; and Perth, Western Australia. These travels suited her sense of adventure well. Beth was a devoted wife, mother, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ were the two most important things in her life. She served in the Church in almost every capacity in Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society. One of her favorite callings was as Young Adult leader in Perth. She served six full-time missions with her husband: in the Church Missionary Department; in the Area Office in Sydney, Australia; in the presidency of the Provo Missionary Training Center (2001-2003); and in a district presidency of the Provo MTC. She especially loved serving with her husband as he presided over the California San Bernardino Mission (1989-1992) and the Australia Melbourne Mission (1994-1995). She loved and remembered all of the missionaries and they loved her. She is survived by her husband, sweetheart, and best friend, Daniel Earl Hurst; children, Vivian James, Brenda Ralls, Marshall (Jolene) Hurst, Jennifer (Jesse) Hurlbut, and Connie (John) Oliver; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Maurice (Joan) Bryson, and three sisters-in-law, Florence Wendel, Mildred (Grant) Maw, and Betty (Vernon) Carlson. A viewing will be held Monday, January 25, from 6 to 8 pm, at Sundberg-Olpin, 495 S State St., Orem. The funeral will be held at the Cascade 5th Ward meetinghouse at 1051 E 200 N, Orem, on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 11 am, with a viewing from 9 to 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
