Beloved Father, Husband, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Bert Olsen Anderson, 85, passed away peacefully from pulmonary fibrosis on October 28, 2016 in Orem, Utah.
Bert was born in Manti, Sanpete County, Utah on December 4, 1930 to Farrel Niels Anderson and Reva Olsen Anderson. He attended Manti High School and the Radio Institute. He married Nancy Wilmott Tenney, from Yorkshire England, on November 28, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Having learned to read using the Book of Mormon, he was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many ways including as Bishop in San Jose, CA, as a temple worker, and with Nancy as an MTC teacher in Provo. He completed a full-time LDS mission among the Navajos in the Southwest Indian Mission, and while an army MP and Assistant Chaplain during the Korean War he helped the Church become re-established in Austria.
Survivors include his children and their spouses: Travis and Diane, Devon and Denise, Clavell and Cynthia, Vachelle and Webb Johnson. Bert had 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, including step-children.
Viewings will be Nov 4, 6:00-8:00 PM at Sundberg-Olpin, 495 S State St, Orem, and Nov 5, 12:00-1:00 at 60 E 1600 N, Orem, with services directly following. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
We thank all those who helped care for Bert over the years, and Vachelle and Webb for their loving care while he lived in their home.
