Benjamin Dean Jorgensen (Ben), age 45, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home in Orem, UT. If you know Ben, then you know that his work was his life, 2nd only to his family, so it came as no surprise to those who knew Ben that he quite literally worked himself right into his grave. While his death is incredibly painful and will leave an unfillable hole in the lives of all who loved him, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate Ben and focus on who he was in life.
Ben was born to Dean and Louise Jorgensen on Aug 19, 1978, in LA County, CA. He was the 2nd born of 7 siblings and the oldest brother which was a role he took very seriously. He was an amazing brother and son and had a great relationship with his mother, father, and siblings. Ben was always there to help in any way he could and do anything for the people he loved without ever asking anything in return.
As a child, Ben was full of energy and adventure. He started soccer at a young age and excelled in it, continuing to play all through his high school years. He was an avid skier with his brother Daniel and spent any moment he could enjoying the powder on the mountain. His hobbies and enjoyment didn’t end there. Ben loved the outdoors whether it was camping, fishing, hiking, backpacking, or shooting guns. He had a fascination with fire and a love for fireworks which started with smoke balls in his mom’s car to bottle rockets being shot off the back porch, then into adulthood throwing the best 4th of July parties for all of his family and neighbors to enjoy. Another activity Ben loved was cooking and he was quite the chef.
Ben’s work ethic was 2nd to none. He started working at the young age of 12 on a dairy farm and earned his Eagle Scout at the age of 14. As the oldest son, he was his father’s first-hand man in any task and worked tirelessly without complaint in the yard, gardening, and working on vehicles. He had a vast knowledge and desire to learn anything he didn’t know. He was reliable for any task and always did the job right, dedicating his time and every effort he had to succeed. If he didn’t know what to do, he would figure it out and do the work to learn how. No task was too big or too hard. This work ethic is what laid the foundation for his career.
Ben started his career in plumbing around the year of 2000. He worked as an apprentice in Michigan and then got his journeyman and master's license in Utah. He worked for Told Plumbing for many years until he began his own business, Forge Plumbing. Ben took immense pride in his work and was highly respected by not only his employees but the plumbing community as a whole as well as many others across the construction industry.
While Ben did spend much of his time working, he was also, and more importantly a dedicated father and husband. In 2000 Ben met Terri and together they had 4 kids, Jaislyn, Bryce, Wyatt, and Chase. Then in 2010, Ben met his soulmate and wife, Rachel, and together they had 3 kids, Conor, Olivia, and Cooper - as well as 7 dogs, 2 cats, countless fish, and whatever other creature Rachel convinced Ben to rescue, usually all complete with a rare disease that Ben patiently put up with. Ben and Rachel were finally married in Sundance, UT on October 7th, 2022.
Ben loved his babies and worked tirelessly to give them the best life imaginable. One of his favorite things to do was cook them breakfast and all of their favorite meals. He loved having the kids help him around in the yard and with his many projects, teaching them his many skills along the way. Recently his shining moment was teaching his daughter, Olivia how to weld.
As a husband, Ben was everything good in a man. He loved hard and worked hard to make sure he could afford all of Rachel’s holiday decorations just like he vowed to do on their wedding day. He was honest, strong, and protective and always followed through with his promises (however if you ask Rachel she may have some complaints about his ability to finish his projects based on the state of her living room, staircase, and bathroom.)
All laughs aside, Ben was a truly amazing man in every aspect of his life. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, son, nephew, coworker, boss, and friend. He was truly one of a kind and will be sincerely missed by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his younger brother, Daniel Jorgensen. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Jorgensen, his children, Jaislyn Williams, Bryce, Wyatt, Chase, Conor, Olivia, and Cooper Jorgensen, his mother and father, Louise and Dean Jorgensen, his siblings, Jeneane (Dayton) Waite, Jacob (Tee) Jorgensen, Jennifer (Justin) Matthews, Joseph (Kelly) Jorgensen, Kate Jorgensen, and 15 nieces and nephews.
