Arvilla Goetz

April 17, 1933 — April 18, 2016

Arvilla Romero Goetz passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016—the day after her 83rd birthday.  Arvilla was born April 17, 1933 in Fairview, Utah, as the 11th of 12 children of John Lawrence Romero and Sylvia Mills Romero.  She attended schools in North Sanpete County.  She was married to Lee Fullmer Parry for a short time and had a son, Michael L. Parry.  She later married Gerald L. Goetz and lived in the Orem and American Fork areas the rest of her life.

Arvilla was a great cook and never failed to have Sunday dinner for family and friends.  She was an avid bowler and belonged to Miracle Bowl and Maple Lanes.  She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and hanging out with grandkids and great-grandkids, which she will miss dearly.

Arvilla also enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends.  She and Jerry joined the Deer Sams chapter of the Good Sam Club and loved to travel and do service projects with their friends from the club.

Arvilla worked for H&R Block for 27 years.  She belonged to the LDS Church and was very happy when she went through the temple for the first time.

Arvilla would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all the caregivers who have been looking over her for the past few years, especially Virginia Sohier and Margaret Stewart.  A special thanks to niece Shauna Standing for the relentless hours in helping out whenever needed.

Arvilla is survived by her son, Michael L. Parry, of Orem; three grandchildren:  Amy L. (Tommy) Hickman, Jared M. Parry, and Brodie M. Parry; five great-grandchildren: Braxton Ferron, Trapper Anderton, Heston Hickman, Jaydon Parry, and Jaxon Parry; a brother, Vernile (Lorraine) Romero; a brother-in-law, Dick (Susan) Goetz; a sister-in-law, Helen Romero; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Geneva Heights Ward 590 N. 900 W. in Orem.  Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. preceding the funeral.  A viewing will also be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 S. State St. in Orem.
