"Aj" Arlyn Hansen

Arlyn Joan Hansen, "AJ", 83 passed away peacefully Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Orem, UT.  AJ was born July 24, 1934 in Salt Lake City, UT to Howard and Dora Hanks.

AJ is survived by her four sons:  Brent Hansen, Marty (Sandy) Hansen, Terry (Maria) Hansen and Kelly (Denise) Hansen. 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren,  2 great, great grandchildren and 2 nieces.  Preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Beverly Hanks Nicholes and Russell Hanks, grandsons: Adam Hansen, Travis Hansen, Brian Hansen and great granddaughter, Danika Marie.

She grew up in Salt Lake City, attending school at BYU, settling in Orem and raising her family there.  She worked at Alta Ski Resort, Burrell's Press Clipping Service as a Proof Reader, Costco and Sam's Club doing Demos and the Senior Companion Program.  She enjoyed staying busy and was admired for her work ethic.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and an avid doll collector.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, ward members, and friends.  She was a skilled Bingo player and never tired of black and white westerns (developing an affection for 24/7 GRIT programming).  She was a fan of Betty Boop memorabilia and enjoyed the freedom of driving in her red VW Bug.  She will be remembered for her small stature and large spirit, her weekly garage sales, contagious smile, infectious laughter and heart warming facial expressions.

She had a special love for animals.  She mothered many throughout her life and was known by the younger generation as "Grandma Puppy".  She leaves behind her beloved cat "Buttercup" and enjoyed visits from family and their furry family members while she lived at Summerfield Retirement Center.

AJ and her family want to express our gratitude and appreciation for the consistent compassionate care she received from Dr. Sean Curzon, Nurse Suzanne Soffe from First Choice Home Health and the staff at Summerfield Retirement Center.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, 4800 North, 650 East, Provo, UT. A viewing will be held Friday morning, from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State, Orem, UT, prior to the graveside services.
